Emerging World Order and India's option

The emerging world order will most likely see an alliance between Russia and China , with the latter trying to literally monopolize Russia's key exports such as -crude oil, Sunflower oil, and wheat, besides forging exclusive defense and military alliance. The unprecedented sanctions against Russia, will compel it towards China's open arms.

Going by the visit of Pakistani PM Imran Khan to Moscow just when the Russian invasion was underway, it is obvious that Pakistan would only be too happy to piggyback on China and Russia to save it's battered economy, which is surviving on doles from Saudi Arabia, China etc. It's status as a "grey-listed" entity at FATF is likely to continue making matters worse for it's economy.

This makes it prudent for our policy-makers to go in for a highly pragmatic rethink of our "Neutral status" in this conflict in particular, and in overall International arena in general, save when anything impacts us directly.

We should strive to become a key member of the NATO alliance, and then work aggressively towards getting the western powers led by the US to get Iran into the mainstream of World economy besides making it as another possible member of NATO. A good alternative to Russia for energy supplies.

It's a no-brainer that with the Chinese staring at us on our Northern borders, we won't be able to count on our traditional ally Russia anymore for same kind of support as in the past.

Since the past eight days, the world of International Relations has undergone an irreversible "sea-change", and it's time our policy- makers recognized the same for our National Interests.
